We do this to:

  • Broaden our pupils’ horizons with new opportunities and enriching experiences
  • help pupils find and develop their God-given talents
  • Develop pupils’ character - including their confidence, independence and resilience
  • Prepare pupils to be active citizens who contribute positively to society
  • Strengthen pupils’ sense of belonging within our school community

Develop essential skills for life

“The school’s promotion of pupils’ wider development is extremely effective. Leaders place as much emphasis on personal development as they do on academic excellence.

The Transformation Curriculum contributes exceptionally well to pupils’ wider development.”

Pupil Voice – what do pupils say about the Transformation Curriculum?

The following quotes are from Year 11 pupils:

“Acting has always been and will always be an integral part of my life. I’ve made countless friends and amazing memories from the school show and other drama transformations. Also, DofE and Reading at Christ the King have helped shape me to be who I am today. Transformation is and will always be something I remember fondly. I will definitely miss and sometimes I forget that other schools don’t have the same opportunity”

“Through Debatemate, I have become more confident in speaking and listening and found numerous effective debating techniques. I have developed new friendships outside my year and I also took part in numerous debating competitions where my team won. I am looking forward to another opportunity to do Debatemate again.”

“I’ve been able to do more of a specific hobby. I like (gym/working out) in the gym, but also when I helped with setting up for prom/awards evening as part of the Interior Design Transformation activity I found out that I really like to be a leader in designing.

“Transformation has helped me to find my career path.”

“Transformation allowed me to find a hobby, playing the guitar. I have taken this outside of transformation and into my own time. I now have a passion for guitar and Transformation has allowed me to develop my skill personally and make new friends/connections with people who have a similar interest to me. If transformation wasn't a session in this school, I may have never found this passion, or been able to pursue it in the way I do now.”

The Transformation Curriculum encompasses all of the Wiseman Virtues. Here are a couple of examples:

All pupils are required to be loving and compassionate when giving back to society such as reading with primary school children, working at the refugee centre in the city centre.

All pupils are expected to be curious and active when opting for their activities.
